Our Travel Plans

We are currently living in an open-air hotel in Urubamba, Peru...approximately one hour North of Cusco, Peru. We spent one month in Cusco, and now the plan is to spend two months in the Sacred Valley. After Peru we plan to spend one month in La Paz, Bolivia, one month in Brazil, three months in Patagonia (two months in Bariloche followed by one month of traveling South through Patagonia to Ushuaia) and finally, 4 months in Central America. Ideally, we would like to buy an overland vehicle in Panama City and spend 4 months road tripping all the way back home...but like all of our plans, this is not set in stone. Stay tuned for real-time updates!

About Rochelle

Hi, my name is Rochelle and Life Well Traveled is my blog. I have always loved the written word and I am passionate about sharing my family’s adventures with others, in hopes that they might inspire, educate and entertain. I grew up in North Lake Tahoe and went to college in Santa Barbara, California. I always thought I wanted to be an English teacher, so after undergrad I joined Teach For America where I taught for two years in South Side Chicago. The experience was eye opening and it led me to research and eventually get hired for a job as a wilderness therapist for struggling teens in Oregon. I met my husband in Oregon and his passion and energy catapulted me into a life of travel and adventure.

After a couple years as nomads we settled back in Tahoe working at a ski resort and in 2018 we had our first child. Shortly after we moved down to the Carson Valley and I chose to follow in my mother and grandmother’s footsteps and pursue a career in real estate…an unexpected but highly gratifying job that keeps me on my toes and introduces me to wonderful people on a daily basis.

When given the opportunity I love to mountain bike, backpack and ski and I look forward to more outdoor adventures as our kids grow. I also love to read, write and drink coffee, but my greatest passion of all is travel. Being a mother has changed my life and my family is my top priority. I love living life with them and I try not to take a single moment for granted.
